Club to Reopen August 21 With Restrictions

Fellow club members,

Hello!  I hope and pray that everyone is safe, healthy, and continuing to do well with our new normal.

Many of us want the club open and are ready to come back.  But many of us aren’t yet comfortable with returning to the club and socializing indoors.  The board has been busy trying to find a solution to meet both needs and comply with the governor’s mandates.

So, we will open the club on August 21st with our “new normal” for those who want to come back.  We will also provide pick-up meals at the front door from 6:45-7:00 pm for those who want to remain in their homes but continue to support the club.  This will be a trial run to test our procedures and see how many are really interested in meeting face to face at this time.  Future dates will be determined by the board based on participation and compliance with COVID mandates.

There will be changes inside and the club will look different:

  1. Everyone will be required to wear a mask for the safety of all. Masks can come off while you are sitting at your table eating or drinking; whenever walking around the club, you must have your mask on.
  2. We are asking for proper distancing while in the club when socializing with others. We are one big family and we care about each other.
  3. We will space tables in the main dining area and bar area 6 feet apart, with chairs placed properly for distance. Tables will be set for a maximum of 5 people with no more than 2 households at a table.  For most tables, this will mean 2 couples.  Some tables will have a couple and one single.  A few tables will have a couple and a family of 3.
  4. We will be limiting in-Club admission to the first 50 members making reservations on-line.  Reservations on-line as of noon Wednesday or after (up to the 50 person limitation) will be binding and you will be required to pay whether you come or not. If you don’t sign up, you will not be allowed entry.  We realize this is a major departure from our current policy, but with a 50-person limitation, the club cannot afford to pay for meals not eaten nor to prepare extras for those who might show up without a reservation.
  5. We will have a separate on-line reservation invitation for those who want to pick up their meals.
  6. We’re asking everyone to pay with a check (meals are $12.50 per person) and to have the check made out prior to coming in the club so that we will not have any bottlenecks at the front door. We will not be signing in during these times.  The name on your check will serve as your sign-in.
  7. We are asking for no visitors or non-members at the club until further notice. Only those registered and on the list will be allowed to attend.
  8. If you are sick or running a fever, please stay home for the safety of others.
  9. We will be calling tables up one by one to pick up dinner at the kitchen window.
  10. The bar will not be open in this starting phase of reopening the club. Bring your own beer, wine, or liquor. If you have liquor at the club, we will give you your bottle(s) when you come to the club, but you must take it back home and bring it back on your next visit.  You will also need to bring your own ice and mixers, because our ice makers, water & sinks will not be available for your use.  There will be no corkage fee as long as the bar is closed.
  11. The club will close at 10:00 pm.

We realize these are BIG changes, but we feel they are necessary to comply with the governor’s mandates and protect the health of our club members.  While you may feel comfortable without a mask, wearing a mask protects others around you.  None of us want to be responsible for unknowingly transmitting COVID to our friends, nor do we want the club to close because of illness.

The Board is hoping that we will have an autumn that will allow us all to be safe and comfortable with our PYC family in whatever manner that is OK for you!

Thank you,

Carol Wood

Comet Neowise

                          NASA PHOTO

Discovered only in March this year, the comet Neowise is visible in mid July shortly after sunset.  Earlier there was some speculation that it might strike the Earth but that didn't happen.

If you miss seeing it this time, wait around 6800 years when it returns to be visible again.

Happy Fourth of July!

It does not take a genius to figure this has been a difficult year!

(Editorial)

The Board and a number of others have worked hard to keep our Club afloat in these difficult times.  We owe our thanks to all who have helped with the carry-out meals to try to keep our caterers intact and to make a little money for the club.

We thank all of you who have helped to hold our Club together!

Plans to Reopen the Club July 7 Reversed

Plans to open the Club on July  7 have been canceled.

After reviewing the Governor's mandates for Social Clubs for Phase 3, the Board has reconsidered and decided NOTTO OPEN the Club, but to continue with Pick Up Meals.

Please see the Newsletter for the REVISED Activities Update for July.

PYC Venue for Outdoor Wedding

In the mists of the Covid pandemic, an outdoor wedding benefited from perfect weather on May 30, 2020.

PYC Drive By

We had about 60 PYC members "drive by" the Club on Saturday. May 2nd.  The weather was perfect and the masks and hats were stunning.  PYC Pandemic Pills were dispensed by Dr. K. Rona Virez (Teri Fredericksen) and Terrie Seitz on her Pandemic Pony.  Social distancing of a PYC sort did occur and it was a real joy to see everybody.

The photos below were provided by Randy Pine.

Season of Faith

As we enter the season so meaningful to many faiths, let us find hope, faith, and pray that the plague will end soon and more normal life can resume in our country and the world.

The Chinese Plague

The gift of the coronavirus from China to the world will have a lasting impact on all of us.  PYC will not go unscathed as our revenues and no doubt membership may be adversely affected.

While the moratorium on meetings and activities exist, all members are invited to submit photos or articles for publication on the website. Please email these to ed.roberts@verizon.net.  Members may also keep in touch by sending an e-mail to all members--just select "Send E-Mail to All Members."
